BE THE CHANGE: UNDERSTANDING SOCIAL JUSTICE THROUGH THE ARTS' SUMMER CAMPS

Four separate week-long summer camps entitled, 'Be the Change: Understanding Social Justice through the Arts' will use contemporary art to teach local, economically disadvantaged middle and high school students -focusing on Title One middle and high schools- about social justice issues important to our region. 8 Texas-certified visual arts teachers (2 per camp) will create an age-appropriate curriculum and create studio projects relating to the topic using a variety of media. Additionally, we will host 10 Wonder Wednesday workshops focused on Building STEAM in Contemporary Art throughout the summer months and focus on introducing students to STEAM concepts and contemporary arts and crafts through various media.
