EVALUATION OF EVOQUA PROCESS
PI: Tom Davis
Co-PI: Malynda Cappelle
Sponsor: EVOQUA WATER TECHNOLOGY LLC THROUGH ACCELERATE H2O
Center for Inland Desalination Systems (CIDS)
Amount awarded: $86,534

As part of a project coordinated by Accelerate H2O, the Center for Inland Desalination Systems (CIDS) will carry out a demonstration of Evoqua's NEXED High Flow Electrodesalination System. The proposed site for the demonstration is the Kay Bailey Hutchison (KBH) Desalination Plant operated by El Paso Water. The NEXED technology is a novel configuration of electrodialysis reversal that was developed in Singapore and shows potential of reducing the amount of energy required for desalination of both seawater and brackish groundwater. The demonstration will involve UTEP staff and students and will lead to publications and possibly future collaborations.
