HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN EL PASO
PI: Jeremy Slack
Sponsor: US DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY THROUGH GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY
Sociology and Anthropology
Amount awarded: $53,051

This project investigates human trafficking in the United States, particularly in Paso del Norte region, which is on the U.S. border with Mexico. This is a growing problem due to the increased expense of border crossings that forces people to work and pay off debts, resulting in greater labor exploitation and trafficking out of El Paso.
