Camilo Khatchikian

Assistant Professor, Biological Sciences - Border Biomedical Research Center (BBRC)

Dr. Khatchikian’s research is centered on the evolutionary ecology of disease vectors, with focus on how the environment affects population structure, demography, and evolution. He integrates theory and empirical studies by using computational models together with population genetics and spatial ecology. Further, his research provides novel insights into traditional areas of evolutionary ecology, and fundamentally, into the universal biological question of the how climate, landscape, and interaction with other species affect the demography of populations. His training makes him perfectly suited to successfully carry out highly collaborative and integrative research projects, considering his broad background in ecology, with specific training and expertise in vector biology, spatial analyses, population genetics and phylogenetics.
