Assistant Professor, Educational Leadership and Foundations

Dr. Duncheon's research explores issues around college access, readiness, and equity for underserved student populations. Her work examines how high school contexts influence college preparation and how postsecondary institutions influence persistence, with a focus on the experiences of first generation students. She employs qualitative methodologies to elicit the perspectives of ground-level stakeholders, particularly students and teachers, whose voices are often absent from educational policy research. Currently she is engaged in a multi-year, multi-site project of the early college high schools in El Paso's Region 19.
