Laura Trevino
Associate Professor, Accounting and Information Science

Dr. Laura Lunstrum Trevino is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and Information Systems. Dr. Trevino graduated from Florida State University in 1997 with her Ph.D. in Management Information Systems. Dr. Trevino’s current research interests include Enterprise Risk as it applies to internal controls, cybersecurity, and knowledge management. She has published in the Journal of End-User Computing, Behavior and Information Technology, the Journal of Organizational Computing and Electronic Commerce, and the International Journal of E-Business Research. In 2003 Dr. Trevino was awarded the highest teaching award given at the University of Texas at El Paso. Dr. Trevino works closely with the community and the local school systems by combining classroom instruction with real world projects. Dr. Trevino’s students have performed over 350 community service projects in the local area such as robot presentations at our elementary schools, web design for non-profit organizations, and training programs for K-12 teachers. Dr. Trevino has also supervises over 200 hours of community service annually to various organizations through her role as Adviser to the Association of Information Technology Professionals. Dr. Trevino research interests are in STEM programs and in workforce diversity.
