Fellowship funds will be used in residence at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC to develop the "Against Translation" project. This comparative, interdisciplinary project will examine epic's representation of translation in the context of Renaissance humanism. It addresses classical Greek and Roman epics, as well as Renaissance Italian, Spanish, and English writing.
