Gram-negative, pathogenic bacteria use the evolutionary conserved virulence factor Macrophage Infectivity Potentiator (Mip) for tissue penetration, dissemination and survival within human host cells. This project aims to develop non-immunosuppressive FK506 analogs as drug-like Mip inhibitors for the treatment of Mip-dependent pathogens.
