The project surveys literature in social, behavioral and economic sciences to identify factors affecting discretion, or the ability to keep secrets; and will establish an accessible evidence base of research to improve professionals’ ability to understand how to maintain secrecy within their respective organizations. The project will develop a conceptual framework on the causes and effects of discretion; obtain a generalizable sample of existing literature; evaluate the quality and analyze the outcomes of sampled studies; and disseminate results.
