The objective of the project is to fundamentally understand the dependence between grain structure and deformation behavior on the fracture mechanism of Nanograined (NG) materials to Coarse-grained (CG) materials in a single austenitic alloy. Dr. Misra's laboratory has discovered exciting evidence that the concept of phase reversion-induced NG structure enables high strength-high ductility combination.
