SafePlace received an award from the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health to work collaboratively the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) to develop a train-the-trainer toolkit on Supporting Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Who Have Experienced Trauma and to provide train-the-trainer, community-wide, and other educational events across Texas to stakeholders in the lives of children with co-occurring intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and mental health needs. SafePlace's overarching goal is to increase awareness of the effects of trauma and promote trauma-informed care for children with IDD and co-occurring mental health conditions.
