The Educational Talent Search program at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) will serve two high schools, Bowie and Jefferson High School and their corresponding feeder middle schools, Guillen and Henderson Middle School. This federally funded TRIO program is designed to create, promote and support a college-going culture in the Segundo Barrio (Second Ward) of the El Paso community, in which 96 percent of the residents are Hispanic and where 89.1 percent qualify for the federal government's free lunch program.
