Bryan L Boyea
Clinical Assistant Professor, Physical Therapy

Dr. Boyea is interested in critically analyzing the method upon which health care is implemented as an essential component to advancing a profession. In physical therapy, as with other professions, research is the foundational conduit through which current practice is assessed and advanced. Dr Boyea has two primary areas of research interest and expertise. One area is to enhance the diagnosis and management of neuromusculoskeletal disease, dysfunction of the movement system, and pain in order to enhance function of the movement system, reduce injury risk, and/or enhance human performance. Additionally, and importantly, he is interested in researching methods to maximize the development of clinical reasoning to enhance student and clinician ability to solve challenging, real-world clinical cases resulting in improved patient/client outcomes. His research philosophy is to objectively and systematically assess current practice from a clinically based perspective for adult, active populations with movement impairments of the neuromusculoskeletal system that may lead to pain, increased risk of injury, decreased functional capacity, and decreased quality of life.
