Clinical Assistant Professor, Physical Therapy
|
Dr. Boyea is interested in critically analyzing the method upon which health care is implemented as an essential component to advancing a profession. In physical therapy, as with other professions, research is the foundational conduit through which current practice is assessed and advanced. His research philosophy is to objectively and systematically assess current practice from a clinically-based perspective for adult, active populations with movement impairments of the neuromusculoskeletal system that may lead to pain, increased risk of injury, decreased functional capacity, and decreased quality of life. Concurrently, this line of research may result in increasing the capacity for movement and increasing functional performance. Additionally, Dr. Boyea is very interested in researching alternative methods to enhance student musculoskeletal competence and clinical reasoning.
