American mezzo-soprano Cherry Duke is a versatile singing actress, facile in opera, oratorio, cabaret and musical theater. In addition to singing principal roles with companies such as New York City Opera, she is a featured soloist with orchestras in classical and pops concerts, including appearances at Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall. www.cherryduke.comIn addition to her active performing career, Cherry ran a successful digital media consulting business from 1998 until she started at UTEP in 2015. Specializing in the promotional needs of performing artists and organizations, Cherry utilized her keen attention to detail and understanding of user experience and audience connection to craft creative and professional promotional, marketing and collateral materials including Web sites.Cherry is actively collecting knowledge and materials in the area of diversity in vocal repertoire. Specifically, she is interested in Latin American art songs, Spanish zarzuela (a unique Iberian form of operetta), and classical vocal repertoire by Black composers.
