David Carrejo
Associate Professor, Teacher Education
Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies & Educator Preparation

Dr. Carrejo’s long-term research goal involves student and teacher learning in mathematics. His design based research in mathematics education have contributed to an understanding of student learning and preparation in both mathematics and science. His approach includes conducting classroom investigations on how learners immersed in an inquiry-based environment construct and develop mathematical concepts. This research centers on mathematical modeling and the development of algebraic reasoning. A key aspect of this research is integrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) domains, thereby giving a robust context for the teaching and learning of mathematics. As a result, he is also committed to conducting research in early STEM education, focusing on the degree to which children and teachers construct knowledge about mathematics and mathematical practice in the classroom.
