Jana Gainok, DNP, APRN, FNP-C is a Clinical Assistant Professor. Her areas of expertise as a Family Nurse Practitioner include health promotion and disease prevention. She has a special interest in longevity, bio identical hormone replacement therapy and she is certified in Suboxone therapy. Dr. Gainok is particularly motivated by interprofessional collaboration and communication as an approach to realizing positive health outcomes for patients. As such, she is the lead in Genetics for the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program and promotes research and clinical application for the betterment of vulnerable populations. In addition, she is the Nursing Advocate on the Health-Focused Interprofessional Education (IPE) community of practice as well as a member of the Faculty Senate committee. Prior to her tenure at UTEP she served in the US Army for twenty years and retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
