Dr. Sias engages in community and academic partnerships to foster networking and positive changes in the health of the community. Since 2009, she has worked with CAPHSR (the Community and Academic Partnership for Health Science Research and Education) through the UTEP College of Health Science and collaborations with community agencies. Together in this work, CAPHSR seeks to lay foundations for sustainable and authentic partnerships, provide community and faculty development workshops, promote opportunities for advancing health sciences education in community engagement and community-based participator research (CBPR).

As a pharmacist clinician and public health educator, Dr. Sias has special interest in medication literacy, diabetes, cultural and community competency, and service-learning. Since 1998, she has continued to find opportunities to practice and teach in traditionally underserved populations.
