Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering

Dr. Weidner is focused on the complex and interconnected systems of infrastructure, society, and the economy. His background is in instrumentation, field testing, and monitoring of bridges through the application of structural identification. He is particularly interested in addressing systemic problems for populations of structures through the application of technology and novel approaches to performance assessment, analysis, and management. Through risk-based, quantitative prioritization and resilience-driven practices, Dr. Weidner aims to prepare infrastructure owners locally and nationally for extreme event hazards by reducing vulnerability and exposure to failure. He is also focused on understanding and quantifying the effects of model selection on engineering practice through the application of multiple model approaches and probabilistic solutions to traditional, single model problems.
