Lawrence Cohn
Professor, Psychology

Dr. Cohn conducts basic and applied research addressing health related issues, including studies of risk perception, risk communication and injury control. Target issues include alcohol and drug use, risky driving, and vaccination decisions. Target populations include children, adolescents, and young adults. Dr. Cohn's lab is currently investigating how young people weigh both anecdotal and expert (statistical) evidence when evaluating the risks associated with drug use, dangerous driving (driving under the influence of alcohol and/or marijuana), and vaccinations. The lab currently uses Reyna's Fuzzy Trace Theory, and Loevinger's ego development theory, as the frameworks for some of their investigations. Dr. Cohn has additional expertise in 1) meta-analysis, and 2) scoring Loevinger's Washington University Sentence Completion Test of maturity (ego development).
