Melinda Tasca
Associate Professor, Criminal Justice

Dr. Melinda Tasca is an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at The University of Texas at El Paso. Her research focuses on corrections, the collateral consequences of incarceration, and disparities in the criminal justice system. Dr. Tasca has extensive experience collaborating with correctional agencies and leading large projects aimed at advancing research, policy, and practice. In particular, she has a strong track record of successfully managing and executing data collection efforts involving incarcerated men, women, and their families; and correctional staff. She is skilled in instrument development, interviewing techniques, and mixed-method methodologies. Her work has been supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), and she is currently a Co-Principal Investigator on the largest study to date on the sources and consequences of prison violence funded by Arnold Ventures. Her recent scholarship has appeared in Justice Quarterly, Criminal Justice and Behavior, Crime and Delinquency, Punishment and Society, and the Journal of Criminal Justice.
