Curriculum Vitae

Sudip Bajpeyi
Associate Professor, Kinesiology - Border Biomedical Research Center (BBRC) - Interdisciplinary Health Sciences

Dr Bajpeyi currently serves as the Director of the Metabolic Nutrition and Exercise Research (MiNER) Laboratory. The work in the MiNER Laboratory under the direction of Dr. Bajpeyi focuses on gaining a better understanding of the underlying molecular mechanisms relevant to metabolic diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, and to improve our understanding of the effects of diet and exercise training on obesity and type 2 diabetes. Specifically, his lab studies the interactions between insulin signaling, intramyocellular lipid (IMCL), lipid droplet associated proteins, and mitochondrial bioenergetics using primary skeletal muscle cell culture models. His research interests are in the following areas: molecular mechanisms in metabolic diseases; and diet and exercise on obesity and Type 2 Diabetes.

  1. Skeletal muscle
  2. Metabolism
  3. Insulin resistance
  4. Obesity
  5. Type 2 diabetes
  6. Exercise
  7. High fat diet
  8. Nutrition
  9. Lipid metabolism
  10. COVID-19
