Dr. Butvilofsky's research agenda focuses on exploring the potential of biliteracy development in emerging bilingual learners, particularly Spanish-English speaking children in PreK-5 grades, using a holistic bilingual perspective. She is particularly interested in connecting research to practice, and is passionate about collaborating with teachers in classrooms. Her current research involves examining the early biliterate writing development of young simultaneous bilingual learners, professional development of bilingual teachers, and establishing equitable ways to assess bilingual learners.
