Dr. Iñiguez’s training is in Behavioral Neuroscience (also known as Physiological Psychology or Biopsychology). His research mission is to address scientific questions using cutting-edge research tools in an independently funded laboratory that involves student training and participation. Additionally, Dr. Iñiguez’s goal is to provide a unique contribution to the fields of neuroscience and psychiatry by examining the potential neurobiological factors underlying stress-induced disorders (i.e., major depression, anxiety) adopting non-human murine models. Specifically, his objective is to examine the long-term behavioral and neurobiological consequences of exposure to stress and/or psychotropic drugs across the lifespan.
