Timothy G Cashman
Professor, Teacher Education

Dr. Timothy Cashman's work has included empirical studies in Cuba, Mexico, Malaysia, Canada, and the United States. Dr. Cashman's academic expertise includes the development of the original theoretical constructs of critical border dialogism and critical border praxis, which follows on the principles of border pedagogy and critical, place-based pedagogies. He has taught comparative and transnational education, curriculum and instruction, social studies education, and education for a diverse society. Previous educational experiences include 15 years of teaching K-12 in New Mexico, California, and Korea. Developing a Critical Border Dialogism: Learning from Fellow Educators in Malaysia, Mexico, Canada, and the United States was published in 2015. Additional research has been featured in four separate book chapters and the following peer reviewed academic journals: Multicultural Education, Action in Teacher Education, Journal of Social Studies Research, International Journal of Critical Pedagogy, Critical Education, Journal of Authentic Learning, Research in Comparative and International Education, Issues in Teacher Education, and the Journal of International Social Studies. Most recently, Cashman has been conducting research with academic colleagues based in both Cuba and Japan.
