Dr. Ted Cooper joined the UTEP clinical and health psychology faculty in Fall, 2004. His general research and clinical interests are in behavioral medicine, disease prevention, and public health. More specifically, Dr. Cooper has primarily published and presented on issues related to tobacco control. Since coming to UTEP, Dr. Cooper has been an investigator on multiple grants from private foundations and NIH. Dr. Cooper’s Prevention and Treatment in Clinical Health research laboratory in the UTEP Psychology Department seeks to 1) reduce tobacco prevalence rates on the border; 2) develop collaborative relationships with organizations and providers to promote tobacco cessation and prevention; 3) develop and evaluate novel tobacco cessation and prevention interventions tailored to the Hispanic population; 4) train budding researchers in tobacco control; and 5) disseminate findings and programs that may aid others in pursuing similar goals.
