Dr. Shim is a theoretical condensed matter physicist and his research focuses on physical implementation of quantum computing in solid state devices. He has been studying possible qubit designs and efficient schemes for gate operations between qubits. Current research areas include superconducting qubits, semiconductor quantum dot spin qubits, and quantum algorithms for applications in near-term noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices. He is interested in using novel materials for new types of quantum computing devices.
