Dr. Mata-Silva is interested in the ecology, evolution, biogeography, and conservation of amphibians and reptiles of the Chihuahuan Desert and Middle America (Mexico and Central America) as a whole. Dr. Mata-Silva is currently studying ecological features of rattlesnake and lizard communities on the UTEP's Indio Mountains Research Station (IMRS). As Director of IMRS, Dr. Mata-Silva's goal is to maintain the research facilities in good condition and ensure access to researchers, educators, and students, as well as the protection of the natural habitat. |
