Dr. Harvey studies the origins of the diversity of life on Earth. He leverages natural history collections, new technologies for high-throughput DNA sequencing, and computational methods for big data analysis to identify how and why new species form. Most of his work focuses on bird diversity, particularly the avifauna of the species-rich Neotropical region (extending from the southernmost US through Central and South America). |
