Dr. Mallonee’s research interests include recovery-oriented practice, client engagement, the therapeutic relationship, coercion and pressure in mental health treatment, serious mental health conditions, mental health disparities, and increasing access to social work services for underserved populations. Prior to transitioning to academia, Dr. Mallonee spent over 7 years as a clinical social worker and program administrator working with a variety of populations, including individuals with more serious mental conditions, survivors of sexual abuse and assault, children and adults in crisis, adolescents and adults with substance use disorders, LGBTQ individuals, and Veterans.
