The University of Texas at El Paso's Center for Community Engagement (CCE) seeks funding of $5,000 to bolster its Fall 2024 Student Voter Engagement initiative. This program aims to enhance civic participation among the diverse student body by coordinating various events and outreach efforts, supported by a collaboration of university student organizations, community agencies, and departments. With a focus on registering students to vote, the CCE has already made significant strides, registering over 2000 students through ongoing programming. The proposed initiative will include events such as National Voter Registration Day and Vote Early Day, designed to engage students through innovative themes like a carnival and "party at the polls." Additionally, class visits and student leader training sessions will be conducted to encourage participation in the upcoming elections. The requested funding will cover expenses for stipends, event materials, refreshments, enabling the CCE to execute high-quality programming and support a student intern through a paid internship. With limited resources currently available, this grant will significantly enhance the center's capacity to drive voter engagement initiatives on campus.
