We propose a geophysical investigation of the Lunana glaciers to test hypotheses about glacier structure, stability, basal sediments, glacial landforms such as moraine dams, ice and landscape deformation, fluvial sediment transport, and the initiation and propagation of glacial outburst floods. We will specifically use novel seismic and radar imaging techniques to address these questions and also make efforts to build capacity on these scientific topics in Bhutan.
