Michael Dalby

Michael is the Assistant Vice President for Innovation, Commercialization and Economic Development. His primary role is to work with faculty, staff, and students to encourage entrepreneurship and commercialization of innovative technologies developed through research. Michael was previously the president and CEO of the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce and the Columbus Chamber of Commerce in Florida and Ohio, respectively. He has extensive experience in business and economic development and served as an intelligence collection systems analyst in the U.S. Air Force for twelve years. As part of his role, he leads the Mike Loya Center for Innovation and Commerce and works with the Blackstone Launch Pad, which provides resources and training to students interested in starting a business. In addition, he reaches out to business, industry, and government entities interested in partnering with UTEP. His position is based in the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects. Michael holds a bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy and a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
