Interdisciplinary Research Engagement Encounter on Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Thrust Areas

This interactive event is geared towards faculty who have an interest in the Department of Homeland Security research thrust areas and serves to:

• Highlight the upcoming plans of the NCBSI to re-compete for DHS funding and discuss the thrust areas where UTEP may have a competitive edge
• Provide an opportunity for faculty to discuss project ideas with other faculty as well as with NCBSI and CLHB leadership in an informal environment
• Widen the network of researchers and experts across disciplines who have been engaged or are interested in engaging on this topic
* The DHS Thrust Areas include Border Security; Chemical, Biological, and explosive defense; Counter Terrorist; Cyber Security; Disaster Resilience; APEX Projects (projects aimed to solve urgent problems identified by the head of a DHS operational component).
