Dr. Ouellet has extensive experience in the area of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) with a focus on the study of hemoproteins, including hemoglobins and cytochrome P450s. In addition, he has expertise on the biology and genetic manipulation of Mycobacteriumn bovis BCG and Mtb, and skills in the biochemical and biophysical characterization of hemoglobins and cytochrome P450 enzymes. He was trained by a world expert in Mtb pathogenesis to carry out experiments with live Mtb, and he has applied state-of-the-art omics tools to elucidate the physiological functions of potential drug targets.
