Dr. Raheem earned her Ph.D. in Construction Management from the University of Florida and holds master’s degrees in Building Construction, Environmental Engineering, and Civil Engineering. She is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering at the University of Texas, El Paso (UTEP). Dr. Raheem has a multi-million-dollar research portfolio funded by various U.S. federal agencies and non-profit organizations (Department of Energy, Department of Labor, Department of State, National Science Foundation, Department of Transportation, 100,000 Strong in the Americas, and VentureWell) focused on smart construction, transportation accessibility, occupational safety, and asset management projects. Dr. Raheem has received several prestigious national, regional, and university awards, including 2020 Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching at UTEP, 2020 Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers' STAR Educator of the Year Award, 2021 American Society of Engineering Education Outstanding Young Faculty Award, 2022 UTEP Academy of Distinguished Professors’ Outstanding Teacher Award, 2022 Great Minds in STEM (GMiS) HENAAC Educator Award, 2022 UT Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award, 2023 Associated Schools of Construction Outstanding Educator Award, 2024 Texas Women’s Foundation Maura Women Helping Women Leadership Award and 2025 Women in Engineering ProActive Network Educator Award. In 2024, her exceptional contributions to the El Paso community were also recognized by her induction into the El Paso Women’s Hall of Fame.
