The Biology Education Research Group (BERG) at The University of Texas at El Paso is comprised of faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and [under]graduate researchers interested in postsecondary teaching and learning in the STEM disciplines. Specifically, our interests include: a) the impact of small- and large-scale course reform efforts on students' conceptual understanding, attitudes, and motivation in biology; b) professional development for undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants; c) enhancement of students' quantitative literacy and reasoning within the biological sciences; d) novices' affective and psychosocial development in research-driven laboratory courses; and e) responsible and ethical conduct of research education (RECR) in the context of course-based undergraduate research experiences.
