Support for this conference workshop at UTEP advances collaboration and training in electronic structure theory and computational materials science. The event brings together computational and theoretical researchers while providing focused instruction for undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral scholars, and early-career faculty. Programming emphasizes efficient coupling of computational methods to improve predictive and simulation capabilities for describing the physics of materials. Hosting the workshop at UTEP, where more than 50% of students are first-generation, supports workforce development goals aligned with the U.S. Department of Energy and contributes to the growth of the Physics doctoral program launched in August 2024. Invited talks and contributed posters highlight new computational methods, advances in efficiency and accuracy, and approaches for computing previously inaccessible material properties.
