| ARCNET: BRAIN-INSPIRED BATTERY-FREE SENSING PI: Alexis Maurel Co-PI: Ana Martinez, Eric MacDonald, Yirong Lin Sponsor: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Metallurgical, Materials and Biomedical Engineering Amount awarded: $243,998 New sensing tools for nuclear safeguards are being created through a three-year effort focused on additive manufacturing. The project uses advanced 3D printing methods, including vat photopolymerization and post-processing, to build brain-inspired devices that operate without external power. Two-photon polymerization printing provides the fine resolution needed to produce intricate structures that traditional manufacturing cannot achieve. This work supports the development of reliable, low-maintenance sensors that can improve monitoring and security in nuclear environments.
