COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH AGEP TRANSFORMATION ALLIANCE: HISPANIC ALLIANCE FOR GRADUATE EDUCATION AND THE PROFESSORIATE ON ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES AND ENGINEERING (H-AGEP) PI: Miguel Velez-Reyes Co-PI: Ivonne Santiago, Craig Tweedie Sponsor: CITY COLLEGE OF NY THROUGH NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION Electrical and Computer Engineering Amount awarded: $1,137,520 Under the NSF Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) program, the City College of New York (CCNY) and the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) are collaborating on an initiative to increase the number of doctoral students seeking and attaining careers in academia. The project targets underrepresented minority and female students, particularly Hispanics, with interventions to increase their interest in and capability for pursuing professorial careers in Environmental Sciences and Engineering (ESE). The research component of the project will evaluate the success of these interventions in enabling participants to overcome barriers in their pursuit of academic careers.
