In collaboration with the University of Miami, Dr. Gill will investigate the reactivity and halogen forming potential of saline dusts emitted from playa (dried lake bed) sediments. The aim of this work is to develop a mechanistic framework of predicting the production of chloro-nitrate to improve the accuracy of models predicting halogen chemistry impacts on tropospheric ozone concentrations and the lifetime of methane.
