Darrouzet-Nardi and his collaborators at the University of New Mexico will study subterranean fungal connections between biological soil crusts and plants in three different deserts: the Chihuahuan desert near El Paso, the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge near Albuquerque, and the Colorado Plateau near Moab, Utah.
