W.M. Keck Center for 3-D Innovation
The need for learning content focused on additive manufacturing (AM) is pronounced by the complex physical phenomena that occur during the highly dynamic manufacturing processes and the rapidly evolving technology. DRIVE AM a training program, in part, developed to produce a superior DoD workforce was developed by UTEP and deployed globally using virtual tools. Additionally, in-person trainings were delivered in El Paso, Texas using the capabilities of UTEP′s W.M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation, and were also delivered in Huntsville, Alabama by leveraging external partnerships. To expand the reach and impact of the DRIVE AM program, UTEP will foster collaborations (Tailored Alloys, DRIVE AM 501c3, Youngstown Business Incubator, Additive Manufacturing Education Partners, and the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining) to deliver in-person and virtual trainings in northeast Ohio to include end-users of AM and those in leadership roles. A major focus of this project will be on developing executive level, condensed learning content that will help leadership make data-driven decisions for the use of AM (or other suitable manufacturing technologies).
