FABRICATION OF NIOBIUM COMPONENTS USING SELECTIVE LASER MELTING ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY
PI: Ryan Wicker
Sponsor: LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY
W.M. Keck Center for 3-D Innovation
Amount awarded: $15,296

Dr. Wicker will complete a feasibility study on the use of selective laser melting as the additive manufacturing technology to produce niobium components and cavities in monolithic form. Utilizing selective laser melting will greatly reduce post-processing by welding and optimize the performance of radio frequency cavities in complex niobium structures.
