SLATES is a program to increase and diversify the service learning activities in the geosciences for geoscience majors and for students of any major who are taking introductory geoscience courses at the UTEP and EPCC . The project will help to increase the number of students majoring in the geosciences, build a student cohort that will help serve as a bridge for students transferring from EPCC to UTEP, and provide ways for students to learn professional skills and apply their academic knowledge outside the classroom.
