In collaboration with the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) and the UTEP STEM Accelerator program, the University of Texas System Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority participation will enhance its Summer Research Academy with a focus on training female engineering students in an area vital to national security. At ARL facilities, participants will work alongside ARL research engineers and two faculty mentors on the design characterization of fractal antennas for mobile communications, conducting simulations, building antenna prototypes, and conducting measurements. The expected outcome is an increase in the number of underrepresented minorities in STEM.
