This project aims to consolidate recent developments in our group with respect to molecular-inspired electrocatalysts specifically designed for the degradation of small molecules (such as water, carbon dioxide, and methane) and small ions (nitrate/nitrite). The focus is on elucidating the redox chemistry and mechanistic aspects of each pollutant using electrochemical techniques, while also providing a comprehensive understanding of the general working principles of molecular electrocatalysts. The development of molecular-inspired electrocatalysts represents a significant leap forward in our work on environmental pollution remediation and our pursuit of clean energy. This project will study the basic chemistry of energy conversion, water treatment, and environmental remediations to provide the basis for transformative technologies, highlighting their potential to reshape our relationship with water and unlock a more sustainable future.
