NANOSCALE MORPHOLOGY AND PERFORMANCE OF POLYMER SYSTEMS

NANOSCALE MORPHOLOGY AND PERFORMANCE OF POLYMER SYSTEMS
PI: Jose Bañuelos
Sponsor: HONEYWELL FEDERAL MANUFACTURING & TECHNOLOGIES, LLC
Physics
Amount awarded: $75,000

The core objective of this work is to assess the ability of scattering methods to probe critical behaviors and characteristics of polymeric materials. Material and mechanistic insights obtained from this work will be used as the foundation of a new morphology-driven approach for materials engineering and process design. This project will focus on utilizing x-ray scattering techniques and other polymer characterization methods to investigate critical performance related structures and morphologies of high density polyethylene. Ultimately this information would help inform structure/property relationships within relevant processes at KCNSC.
