Geological Sciences
Amount awarded: $45,000

The research investigation of doctoral student Amanda L. Labrado aims to test the feasibility of native sulfur deposit formation in the absence of light and oxidants to understand if a yet undiscovered microbial pathway might be active in Earth’s biogeochemical sulfur cycle, which has implications for the detection of life in Earth’s geologic past and elsewhere.
