PERFORMANCE MODELING OF GPU ARCHITECTURES AND APPLICATIONS
PI: Eric Freudenthal
Sponsor: US DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY THROUGH OAK RIDGE NATIONAL LABORATORY
Computer Science
Amount awarded: $16,586

The goal of this project is to improve the state-of-the-art of analytical performance modeling for the Hardware Evaluation (HE) component of the Department of Energy’s Exascale Computing Project (ECP). The ECP is focused on accelerating the delivery of a capable exascale computing ecosystem that delivers 50 times more computational science and data analytic application power than possible with current systems. The researchers will continue to release the ASPEN (Abstract Scalable Performance Engineering Notation) software to collaborators and target an initial public release. Additionally, researchers will investigate using a graphics processing unit in the ECP.
