Amount awarded: $90,000

The project objective is to study hot mixed asphalt (HMA) subject to thermomechanical fatigue to better understand how stress, deformation, and microstructure evolve both temporally and spatially. The outcome will be a 3D multiscale material characterization database and a multiscale stochastic damage model for HMA subjected to thermomechanical fatigue.
